Sergeant Major Bruce A. Grant

Biography

SGM Grant is a native of Chehalis, Washington. He is a 1971 graduate of W.F. West High School in Chehalis. He joined the Army in 1974 after three years working in a department store in Seattle, Washington. SCM Grant completed Basic Combat Training at Ft. Ord, California and Advanced Infantry Training at FT. Polk, Louisiana. He served in numerous staff and leadership positions with the 25th Infantry Division, Hawaii, 9th Infantry Division, Ft. Lewis, Washington, 172nd Light Infantry Brigade and the 6th Infantry Division, Ft. Richardson, Alaska. He also served as a Drill Instructor at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and as Training and Mobilization NCO at Readiness Group Denver, Denver, Colorado. His last assignment was as Senior Instructor with the ROTC Department at Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, Missouri. After he retired in June of 1996, he was hired as Army Instructor at Clinton County High School, Albany, Kentucky.

He participated in two special deployments: As a squad leader in Operation New Life, Guam, March 1975 and as First Sergeant with the Multinational Force and Observers mission, Sinai, Egypt from March through November, 1990.

He is a graduate of the 25th Infantry Division Recondo School, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Jungle Expert Course, Drill Sergeant School, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Operations and Intelligence Course, First Sergeant Course and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. He also holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Psychology from Park College.
